I look at our grocery budget and we usually cook fairly healthy rarely eat take out (maybe once a month) and I was thinking that if I lived in places like the US that had coupons we could save so much more than what we do here...food is expensive here but damn I wish we could get coupons like other countries...what do others think..do you think coupons are worth it? I wouldn't go to extreme nad have a basement full of stuff or buy what we didn't really use much of...but I hink we would save I do love watching these shows on tv

Most coupons are for brand name and more and more seem to require buy 2 or 3 etc. Very rarely is there a coupon for anything I buy regularly so it is a waste of time even searching for them in flyers etc.
The only experience I ever had( never watched the shows), they filmed one in a store I worked at and quite frankly even though they had a small total in the end the " food" portions of the purchase was things like frozen burritos and premade frozen dishes and cereal and I mean a lot of both of those items if that sounds like a sensible diet.haha
Most of the purchases were shampoo and other personal care items and they bought multiple bottles of pain reliever seems like a lot of work to re-sell items because no way would an average family used the amounts they bought.

Some people here in the U.S. coupon almost as a full time job. They do not subscribe to brand loyalty. Many times they can get items for free (toothpaste, make-up, etc). For me, it is only fruitful if it's something I know I can use. I couponed for body wash for my son last year and he has now been diagnosed with eczema and prescribed specific soaps, so those products will have to be donated (which I absolutely do not mind). My current strategy is buy on sale things I know we use and keep a small stash so I'm always buying at the lowest price.

Honestly, I find heavy meal planning is what helps my budget the most and I try to build those around meat and veggie sales.
