100 million

Our lotto over here this week is $100 million dollars could you imagine having money like that...I just can't fathom money like that...but if I did I would set up my family with homes, and I would love to buy a hotel and give it a charity I support for the homeless and 2 other charities I support would get a great boost as well as all their money goes to the kids that they help.....what would you do if you had money like this??

    If I had money like that, I would set aside 3 million for myself, then use the rest to set up a charitable trust, investing the principal in a conservative mix of index funds. There would be a board of directors. Anyone in the world could submit a request for funds in any amount for any reason. The trust would fund those requests which seemed like they would really accomplish a goal which could help someone improve their life. The requests would have to be vetted first, of course. And there would be a limit to how much could be paid out each year.

    I didn't dream this up just now, it's a long-standing fantasy of mine. Wouldn't that be wonderful? You need a new wheelchair? Here you go. You need a new roof? Here you go. You need help paying for your education? Here you go.

    The first thing is contact a lawyer and figure out alll the ins and outs of collecting, after taxes. But then we would pad our investments, pay off our church's mortgage, donate to lots of other things, and probably do a few more things to our house. It's a nice dream, isn't it?

    Petunia...I don't like a lot of companies and how they help people and I think doing things for people can make them lazy...I want them to show me they are making an effort in their lives for what they need to do...but I do like the idea.

    rob62521 in australia we don't pay taxes on our winnings so if it is 100 million thats what you get...sitting in the bank you will be taxed on it like normal as it would be classed as income...but thats all...but that is so much money the help you could give people who actually need it would be awesome...I have so many ideas...maybe one day it would come to fruition.
