Do you ever want to give up??

July 29th, 2019 at 01:37 am

Thats how the last few weeks have been here, the weather has been cold wet and windy...we have had flooding and mould for last 3 months..which we are working on with the owner (live in another state)..so will hopefully get it done sooner rather than later....but that is a long story in itself.

I hurt myself exercising...messed up my neck and made my dizziness so much worse so haven't been able to do much which also cost us more in doc appts...my budget is in shambles and I just want to give up!!

But this week is pay week and hopefully things will start to improve and we can get back on track...we all know without a good budget and planning things will only get worse...

one good point is we are menu planning so keeping on track with the food budget....how do others stay on track when things feel so out of control??

Just keep on keeping on -- one day at a time. Let go of what happened to get you off track. I have always found recovery to happen quicker than I thought it would.

You have to remember nothing lasts forever. What can you do today to tackle or a goal, or change your mindset! It's frustrating, but things get better, sometimes on a different timeline or in a different way than we expect. Hang in there!

When it rains, it pours... yes, have definitely felt like throwing in the towel when a bunch of crap all hits me at once! But hanging in there pays off; when your luck eventually turns around, you will be in a better position than if you just gave up.

I think many of us have gone through that feeling I know I have a couple of times.

I myself need only to look around and see the disaster of those few people i know
who have given up and the outcome is worse then any temporary setback or crisis I am dealing with.

I have had so many set backs and sometimes I have wanted to give up. A couple of times I have taken my eyes off the long term goal, but that just made things worse. I find that if I just keep reworking the budget and keep my goals firmly in mind, I manage to work around it and just keep going. It can be a real plod when things are going crazy all around you, but you just have to stay as close to the track as you can until you can get all the way back on it.

We all have times like that, I think. I have a few sayings I use to get through those times: “This, too, shall pass”; “Whatever doesn’t kill me makes me stronger”; “It’s not what happens to you but how you react to it that matters”; and “No way around but through.”

I was just going to say what CB and Dido said. Sometimes it's just one day at a time. What can I do today which will save me some cash? Maybe it's a small victory with making things from the pantry or selling a few surplus things. Chin up--it WILL get better.

Thankyou everyone thought it was going to be a better day but we may have to move now..depending on the landlord...so way more expense then we wanted or needed...but that is another story....it payday this week but probably wont pay bills to the weekend as my hubby is having day surgery friday...

I track my budget on a 4 x 6 index card that I put in my wallet. On the index card, I have my skeleton budget for that 2 week pay period plus any other expenses anticipated. Whenever I pay a bill, I update the amount, or if I use all of the amount budgeted, I mark through it and write the date. Later, if I am at a store and want to buy something, I can clearly see whether I can afford it. Lots of times the answer is "no I cannot." But I don't give up, as some things I want I can get really cheap from thrift stores, which helps a lot.
