how long do you think this virus will last?

I have been watching the news and reading online and they are saying that this virus could be around till the end of the year!!

What do others think? I think if people do what they are suppose to then it shouldn't last that long...but everything I hear and read contradicts itself...and that is to be expected as it is a new into the community and no-one has an immunity to it...but I hope that it doesn't...in saying that an asian lady over here that has tested positive for the virus was in the store spitting on fruit...she was arrested...she should have been in seclusion...but she didn't...so angry with idiots like this...hope she is fined..they are talking fines of $20,000 if you don't go into seclusion...so hopefully she will get fined that

    The measures we are being asked to take are slowing the spread of the virus in an attempt to keep the medical system from collapsing.

    The total number of people who will be infected doesn’t change. It will just take longer if we practice social distancing.

    Eventually, enough people will have it that they can go out without spreading it, and that will allow a skeletal work force.

    Sustaining the medical system will save lives but 50 percent of the people on ventilators will die unless a treatment is found.

    We won’t be over this until most people have had it or a vaccine is discovered, tested, approved, deployed.

    This is a long haul th No. My bet is two years.

    And there will be a new ‘normal’ after that.

    I've read about 18 months. It's crazy. People aren't following rules here in the UK. We've just been put on lockdown and people are still gathering.

    I'm at the point where everyone who is still gathering and everyone who is deliberately trying to spread the virus needs to be herded into a quarantine camp. I am not one for taking away freedoms, but this is an extraordinary circumstance. We need to protect ourselves from the stupid among us.

    Oh, yeah, and also 6 to 18 months on how long it will be around. I don't think there is any stopping it, just slowing it's destruction.

    wow I was thinking that it would be 12-24 months but hoping I was wrong...I really think that those who are doing the wrong thing should be punished...severly...as i was telling a few family members that had been travelling you might be young but you could carry it and not know and then give it to those more vulnerable around you...I told them that if they didn't self quarentine then they would be just as responsible for any deaths that occur...as they don't know who they gave it to or passed it to and who those people gave it...I said it wasn't about them it was about the wider community....don't know if they listened I haven't spoken to them since!! These are scary times
