panic buying seriously!!!

November 16th, 2020 at 08:01 am

Ok I have to laugh at this and I'm sorry if it offends anyone but I can't help it.

Our state has had no communiy covid cases for months..one of the workers obviously didn't do the right thing when it came to protocols and now we have covid in the community..17 cases in the last 2 days...most with the same family..they have shut down I supermarket and 2 schools to clean them..should be reopened within 24 hours...but people here have started panic buying especially toiet paper...don't know why toilet paper isn't even part of the disease...but really 17 people and and they are panic buying things...I find this funny...shows you how easy we have had it for so long!!!

I think people panic-buy toilet paper because it's the one thing they can't imagine having to do without.

I have carefully and slowly stocked up quite a bit of TP over the last few months when it became available again so we will be fine for four months if we suddenly can't get any and then I have my back up of 24 brown wash cloths and four squeeze bottles, one for each member of the family. We are good if people go crazy again, which apparently they are since we are locking down on Wednesday. I haven't had to go to the store since before the election because I have been stocking up all summer and fall with good sales. We will pick up a turkey on Tuesday night and then stay out of the stores for as long as possible after that.

Ah, I remember the first covid case (university student returning from Italy) and then the first covid death (31 y/o woman who worked for Red Cross) in my city. Now we know of 10,503 cases and 223 deaths. The surrounding suburbs are even worse. I hope to heck your fellow citizens will buckle down and do it as well as OZ has previously been doing it.

I could understand if we had a bunch of cases but we have had 20...they have put up where those people have been a whole shopping centre and 2 schools were closed and disinfected...everyone in those areas have been tested and told to quarantine...and they have had hundreds in those areas go and get tested...and yes everyone over here gets tested for free...I don't think we will end up with a second wave I think people are pretty good...most i saw today were wearing masks again...our stores still have sanitizer for carts and your hands as do shopping centres etc...a certain amount of people are allowed in stores depending on how big the store is (so can stay 6 feet from each other), doesn't always happen in grocery stores...but we try...I just don't think it is that big of a deal...or at lest I am hoping that it won't be
