greedy people

I think this virus has made aussies stupid and greedy!

Our govt is doing what it can to help people out many people have lost their jobs and will go on support incomes..they don't have time limits over here but for the next 6 months they will get double which is $1100pf plus rent assistance to help them until they get employment etc...they have said that they can't be evicted if they can't pay rent, they can have 6 months of no rent if they can't afford to pay rent...but the people who own the houses the banks are apparently stopping their payments for 6 months but they will still have to pay interest etc..

my issue is if you are getting paid $1100 pf why can't you pay your rent...you should be able to..I know we pay more over here but you should be able to pay something...and the rent after 6 months still has to be paid...you still have to catch it up...I can understand reduced rent maybe but no rent...I think people are becoming greedy and selfish and it annoys me....pay what rent you can help the owners out...etc...we need to all do our bit and work together...but it seems like that is not happening here anymore...everyone is out for themselves...frustrating....hope they all settle down

Is the $1100 for food, insurance, etc? If rent is $1100 I can see how it would be hard if you had NO income, NO savings, and had to pay for just living expenses.

We've got folks hoarding food, tp, and hand sanitizer here in the states.

Even here they have similar delayed eviction policies in some places, I agree that even if you are paying half rent now ... when things start to get back to a new normal they could catch up much easier.
I know many cannot afford to dig a deeper hole for themselves. In some places here some of the hoarders of paper products and sanitizer have now tried to return items to store as they now have no money after going nuts and buying TP etc.
I really hope a silver lining is that more people see the value and need for an EF and handling money better.

LAL it is unemployment so yes it is to pay all their bills...most people wouldnt pay that much rent where they wouldn't have money left over to pay other bills/food etc

Rob it is hard here so many restrictions on how many things you can buy at a time

smallsteps...I just think they can pay some rent...they will still have to catch it up after the 6 months so much easier to keep paying what you can...here stores are refusing to refund return items...they won't let them be returned...and they can't sell online for higher prices and they can't send out of country if they do and get found out it all gets confiscated...they they are screwed if they hoarded...

I hope people learn how to better manage their money and stockpiles after this...never know what the future holds....although we have enough to get by right now and we budget in our rent so that shouldn't be a hassle...we do need to get our ice acct up again it is so low right now!! so something to work on
