what do you think you will change?

April 6th, 2020 at 03:21 pm

I know that most people need to stay at home except for essential services...but what are some of the positives and do you think that you will continue them when life gets "back to normal"

Things like takeaway, are you saving money by not eating out,I know gas is a hard one you are saving by not driving but that will change when you go back to work etc...more family time...just things like that

Since we have chronic illnesses our life really hasn't changed that much, we barely have takeaway, we are together a lot anyways...so it is really normal for us...so just wondering if the things that have changed will you continue doing them??

My lifestyle hasn't changed that much either except for not spending social time in person with friends and families, mostly at people's homes. One thing I will carry forward is maintaining more of a personal emergency kit, since this has been an eye opening look at how tenuous some supply chains are.

I will be growing our own food, but I can't do it on a large scale until I have a yard I can dig in again. I'm limited to containers.

I'd love to share my visions but because they are only that, I'm not going to share, but if they are right...it's going to be fantastic! Not sure how long it takes, but really it's going to bring so much good.🦋

I'm not sure if any of the changes I've made will stick, but I can assure you I will really appreciate what social interaction I have when things get back to "normal." I have never been a party animal and I don't require tons of friends and socializing, but this has been tough, even for me. Frown

If things go back to normal, I know I will appreciate things more. Like being able to see in person and hug extended family. I was never a huggy person outside DH and the kids and his family was and it was weird for me to adapt to that, but what I wouldn't give now to see those faces and hug those people. I will appreciated family reunions a lot more, even though as an introvert I find them hard. I will appreciate being able to go to the lakes, the creek, the waterfall, the bay. I don't think I realized how big a deal it was for me to be able to go to the water whenever I wanted. Or go in a park. I will continue to wash my hands better than in the past. And no matter how crappy I feel this summer, I am going to can so much more food, and I am going to make my son help instead of letting him get away with not. I never got potatoes canned last year and I am down to three pints. We had a shortage on potatoes for a couple of weeks right before our stay at home order started. I had planned to have a smaller garden this year, but that's out the window. I've learned that food shortages can actually affect me and not just be something that I read about. So that will stay with me as we create more garden space and not less.

I have been cooking more for sure. I also have enjoyed walking outside (socially distanced) more than I ever did before. I will want to keep making it more a part of my life, to be outside rather than inside.
