school is weird now

January 23rd, 2022 at 06:10 am

Our schooling is completely different than the US...our kids have 9-10 weeks then 2 weeks off until summer when they have 6 weeks off...and even though our kids don't go to school it has been weird to see them start the kids off at different times...kids in years rec/1..7/8 & 12 all start 2 weeks earlier...than the rest...but my thought is why bother if kids at school are going to get covid they will...they still play sport, work etc so whats the difference if they start school at the same time...I don't understand it...but honestly if I did have kids I would home school them anyways....but am I wrong in thinking this is strange??

Are you saying they are staggering the schedule as a COVID prevention measure? Maybe the point is to have fewer people in the buildings at one time. I'm not sure from your description. I only have one friend in Australia but her daughter isn't school age yet so I'm not familiar with the system there.

That is an interesting concept. A number of years ago one of the schools in our district became a magnet school and did the year round calendar and the parents and staff really liked it, but it was tough when it came to planning district meetings and specialists because of the different days and time off.
