car serviced, lawyer paid

July 11th, 2025 at 11:34 am

So we got our car serviced today, they called and said that we needed 2 new tyres and we had a cracked coolant cap, but other than that just a general service so was a little more expensive than we expected but was able to pay for it no problem...its a 2009 car so glad that it is holding up as we dont want to upgrade at all...and it runs great.

Our youngest daughter paid for a family friends lawyer to get his will done as he isnt well off and has a very aggressive cancer, its rare enough that they are using him as a test case because they dont know much about it...and it travels fast within 2 weeks it went from his r shoulder/chest area, to his spine and brain stem..and now is starting to affect his face/arms etc...we are not sure how long he has but he is okay doing extra mri's and they want to try some radiation next week to see if it does anything...but he doesnt have money and has little time so my daughter told him that she had a friend who is a lawyer and she would do it as a favor to her to get his will done. Yes she lied to him as she planned on paying for it but he wouldnt have had it done if he knew so we didnt tell him or anyone...so I gave her some money for it to help her out....have to love generous kids who care for others. Its been a hard year for my mom, her SIL (sisters husband) died end december had funeral in jan, this year then a couple months ago her best friend of 70 years died and she was with her as she wanted her there, and now this family friend who is like a son to her is going to pass soon...I guess she is in that age group of that happening more but its still sad for her.

Anyways its payday next thursday Im hoping to put more on the CC and reduce the amount again. Have a great weekend

Taking care of your car is smart so it lasts!

That's nice of your daughter to help a friend out; you raised her well.

Very generous of your daughter to help pay for the lawyer fees.

I'm a strong believer in honesty, but in real life, we all know that there also rare exceptions to rules that we normally hold firm on. This is one of those rare exceptions.

Yes I thiink our girls turned out well they grew up giving and helping others, started of when they were little putting christmas gifts under tree for disadvantaged kids, helping make soup for homeless, buying homeless meals etc...we still do it today and they still do things on top of this themselves...they never tell people because they are taught that they help because they want to help not because they get something from it. I am very proud of our girls and that they help others even in small ways.

Tabs yes we are well but like you said sometimes it is better when things are not said to people we know 100% he wouldnt accept the help as he is a proud person..but we also know what a nightmare it would be for his sons without a will so worth it.

Rob yes and because it is older I think it lasts longer..nothing is made to last anymore.
