companies & bank "ripping" people off

November 4th, 2025 at 03:47 am

Is it me just thinking this or is it just our country or all over the world that it is happening.

So all our bills have risen, our food prices have risen, rents...everything basically has risen in cost. I have has several elec bills that have been wrong and they have charged me on average $1200 more than what they should have, lucky I look at the bills and check them. But it seems like no matter what the businesses and banks are all in record profits for the last couple years...so why are they the only people making money while everyone else is struggling or paying higher prices? They were profitting before prices went up now they are just making more money while people struggle to eat or keep a roof over their head (we eat fine and can pay rent, I just mean in general).

Then we see people stealing from stores all the time, its happening more and more over here...so what do others think??

Yeah, I feel like that's also true in the US. Large corporations and banks do benefit in this type of pro-corpo setting.

Oops meant to say that yeah corporations benefit, but not us regular people. The people in power right now in the US are not interested helping the average citizen.

funny thing is its the little people who allow them to make all the money if no-one showed up to work for a week and everything stopped they would make no money...people need to take back the power

The idea that people should ‘not show up for work for a week’ always make me wonder if people have thought this through.
    Should fire fighters stay home?
What about the people who dispatch them?
    Ambulance drivers?
    Police?
    Medical staff?
    Plumbers? Electricians? Utility workers?
    Home health aides?
What about teachers? Who watches the children of anyone you think should work?
    Bank employees?
Farmers? Who milks the cows and harvests crops?
    Grocery store workers?
    Gas station attendants?
    Pharmacy employees?
    Transportation workers?
    Nuclear reactor monitors?
    Meteorologists?
Do the tv and radio stations go dark?
    The internet?

    Really?

Yes can keep hospitals running but everything else should shut down...they are making the average person suffer because of their greediness and the only way to fight back is to not work, parents will be home no-one needs to look after their kids, no store need to be open or gas stations because nothing is open people dont need to go anywhere, farmers they are on their own land they can do what they please...so yes this is issue people have the same mentality..well it is going to disrupt lives...thats the whole point people need to be angry enough to stand up...you are almost under a dictatorship and if you dont see that then I feel sorry for your country because it will never be the same. The rich are taking over...or have taken over and a narcissist runs the country who thinks of no-one but himself...and the only people profiting are the rich that are paying him off...before long all your going to see is what he wants you to see because he is controlling the media already over there, he is hurting your farmers so they have to sell their land cheap and bill gates is buying it up so they can control the food over there...everyone around the world can see what is happening

I'm seeing the same thing here...prices going up and money not stretching as far. Right now, things are just chaos.

I heard they were stopping food stamps so they were closing stores because they were worried about riots or people stealing etc....is that true??
it must be hard to see people go hungry and without food/shelter and medical and then all the unnecessary spending over there

mumof2, I just saw a story on our local news tonight about a small neighborhood grocery store having to hire security because they’ve had threats of looting. This is in a large metropolitan area in Texas … and honestly I am surprised there are any smaller neighborhood grocery stores left around here anymore. I haven’t seen anything in the news yet about anything like this actually happening, but I won’t be surprised if it does. People get desperate when they can’t feed their families!

LadyT: Oh that should be "fun" to see. Texas allows use of lethal force to defend against property loss. Agree or disagree, but security can legally shoot looters.

Tabs, you are exactly right. The gun laws here are ridiculous … but I think they’re ridiculous in this country as a whole, too.

I just find it sad that the US has how many billionaires who could end hunger not just in the US but in the world if they wanted to...seriously why do you need that much money, you couldnt possible spend it all in a lifetime...its just sad

Because they want to use their money to live in their bubble. Why else would they hundreds of acres somewhere for privacy? To live in a bunker away from the riff raff. Guess everyone forgotten the french revolution. Let them eat cake.

LAL they only have that money because of the average person working for them..a majority anyways...

The US has always been like this, making corporate profits a priority with tax breaks while minimizing safeguards for working people (disappearing pensions, turning basic health insurance and other benefits into a dying breed as more people are made to work as "independent contractors," and of course now with Obamacare threatened, corporate efforts to keep unions out, and the list goes on). I've seen a lot of change in my 40+ years of work, and not for the better. One little bright spot, which is not across the board in every state, but in my state, employers must now disclose the salary range for a given job if a job candidate asks for it.
