Are you all nervous??

January 17th, 2026 at 12:32 am

Obviously we have all been watching the news about trump wanting to take green land and what may happen if he tries, I mean the implications of going against another NATO country is insane. many are saying that others will call in the US debt which will bankrupt the country...I don't know a lot about it but it seems to be all over the internet. I am just curious how you all feel about that? I know many of you have saved for your lifetime and some have just started saving for retirement etc so if that happens what do you have in place when it comes to your money? Would you still have your money...I am genuinely concerned for you all but also dont know a lot about it...any insights?

I have been terrified at varying degrees since 2016.

Living in a country that chose this man to be president makes me question everything I believed about what it means to be an American.

I think I will be ok financially no matter what happens and will be able to help my extended family.
But I am grateful every day that I don’t have children who will have to bear the longtime brunt of shame that will be left in our wake if we destroy the world order to satisfy the ego of a maniac.
I am working hard to support Democrats and encourage others because I won’t give in without fighting. But there is no guarantee it will be enough.

It's still a "black swan" (very unlikely) event, but certainly more possible than previously. Maybe up to an 18% probability rather than a less than 1% probability (based on the prediction markets).

Remember that what's on the news and social media is much more biased these days on what gathers "eyeballs" and thus advertising revenue and has been this way ever since the Reagan administration abolished the Fairness Doctrine for the media in 1987.

No, not really. There have been offers/requests/whatever to buy Greenland since WWII, so this isn't new. As Dido said, the news/media is ummm... well anyway, you know. As for our debt, all countries have debt to one level or another. The only country to have a chance of scaring the US with a debt call would be China, and that would be mutual destruction so that's not happening.

The US Government Federal deficit and the US trade imbalance is way more impactful to day to day life here. We finally have a government that are taking both seriously, so I am hopeful, not nervous.

    Very nervous.
I think the man is a lunatic and personally, people are obsessed with power and it’s making me extremely nervous. When did we get to us vs them?

Amber I think the day he took office.

single guy UUMM this government with Trump as president is not doing your economy any favors yes for the rich but not for anyone else and the US deficiet has sky rocketed under Trump not sure why you are so hopeful people are literally dying in your country for lack of food and medications.

Dido honestly I have been going on what I have seen him say himself online and I think we see more than you gys do on some things because he doesnt control our media...I hope he doesnt because it would do him no good financially to take greenland and it would cause a lot of stuff with NATO

I dont understand your govt as ours is much different but will be interesting to see what happens if you have the midterm elections...he is trying to cause mayhem so he can declare martial law and call a halt to the elections...so hopefully that doesnt happen

I was watching a video of the Danish special forces debarking unto Greenland. No matter how real this latest Trump threat is to distract the world from his Epstein Files debacle, Denmark is not taking any chances. Also, this has received wide-spread condemnation amongst the NATO allies.

Which is exactly what China and Russia wants to see: Internal fractures among NATO members is a huge morale boost for Russia who is still embroiled in the Ukrainian land grab (at the cost of literally millions of lives). As well, China is ramping up its aggression in their own Pacific grabs, ranging from Taiwan to the South China Seas. (I wonder if all these words I'm using is going to attract the troll bots here?)

Speaking of which, Australia is also very much within China's target sights. Recently, I heard they sailed warships into the Australian EEZ, and they very nearly succeeded at installing a Chinese spy as the Australian PM.

Oh and let's not forget that Rupert Murdoch is Australian. Thank you for that by the way, but please, you can have him back haha.

But uh, despite the world is politically, and sometimes literally on fire depending on who you are, I want to somehow end this on a more upbeat note: No, I'm not personally worried. The world is lucky that we are still getting what is basically a toddler who wants to play mad king, but mostly still don't know how. I would be much more worried about who is coming next, such as Don Jr. The Trumps have benefitted GREATLY, both financially and politically, while in power (where did all the Republicans that howled at all the insider trading and conflict of interest such as Hunter Biden hiding?) but... at least it's still not as bad as World War 2. Nothing really is so far, and yet despite that, civilization still survived. I just hope it doesn't go that far down before people learn to realize, "Oh. Yeah. Trump was a bad guy."

I also just want to make it clear that just because I am not personally nervous, I fully understand why others would be. I suppose I was just trying to be more re-assuring and hope that people will not panic too much while the proverbial house is on fire.

Also, it doesn't mean that I am not upset by any of this. Quite the opposite all this upsets me greatly, and it absolutely boggles my mind why some people can not see things for what they truly are: Trump is the enemy. Trump is the danger. Even if you hold some Republican values, such as myself as well, why isn't this obvious enough already?

Yes, certainly I am greatly concerned. I'm not sure American democracy will survive this Presidential term.

  9. mumof2 Says:

Tabs we all know that Trump is Russias puppet and he is hoping that the US falls and we all Know after this Term if the US want Trump and the rest of them to pay for their crimes then they will pack up and leave to another country probably why he is trying to build gaza so quickly also has no formal extradition treaties. Also we dont want murdoch back none of like his and his lies.
My issue is if we were to go to war not sure what would happen as we have close ties with the US but we do a lot more trading with china and if we are cut off it will make things very hard for us. Also Trump has requested that australia joins the "board of peace" and like everything it will be chaired by Trump and if you want a permanent seat all you have to do is pay 1 billion in the 1st ywelve months and its yours...hoping our PM says NO to this, we are however still a part of the AUKUS.
Lets just hope tat all countries can get good, young (under 60), honest politicians in and the world can go back to helping each other out before it becomes to late...and all the trades can be fair for everyone...and that inflation either stabalizes or goes down

This infuriates me but I am not worried this will bankrupt the American democracy. There is a perverse part of me that hopes that calling in bonds will hurt us, because it would be a direct indictment of Rump, but it wouldn't happen instantly and I would think (well, any sane person) would backtrack were that to happen. Already the Down is down over 800 points because of this s*** show.

According to Rump administration, more than 20 nations will pay $1 billion to be on his "board of peace." Which I think is insanity.

The answer is yes. I'm afraid he's going to get us into World War III.

  12. mumof2 Says:
    1769238428

patient saver yes je has asked australia and we are hoping they say NO...1 billion each and he gets total control over everything they do and the money....anyone would be stupid to join that
